This original lacquer Selmer Mark VI tenor from 1968 still has most of its original honey gold lacquer. It is an American-engraved and assembled Mark VI, and while it has mostly older pads, it still plays remarkably well on them. The tone is medium between bright and dark, complex, and very pleasant to listen to. It’s a Mark VI that you don’t want to put down. This was from the family of the original owner and will have only its second owner when someone buys it. It’s a fantastic deal because you get the build quality, beauty, tone, and playability of the most desirable vintage Selmer saxophone, but for a price that is not much more than a new Yamaha custom and that is a fraction of a new Selmer. Plus the VI will hold its value much better than other options. Vintage saxophones don’t really wear out if you take care of them, and this one has been well cared-for by its first owner. There are no dents or dings, and it has some lacquer wear from use and just being in the world, but otherwise is quite nice. There are no resolders, and the original neck is also in nice shape. It’s a chance to get a solid 1960’s Selmer Mark VI for a great price that plays well and is all original.
