This is a bright, crisp, full-bodied and powerful Selmer Mark VI tenor from 1967 that was overhauled by Ken Beason before he tragically died, and that was then not played a ton. The overhaul is low miles and feels and looks nearly fresh as the owner of this has other, darker-sounding horns that he plays. The 1967 VI's are a sweet spot for mixing power and a complex, interesting tone, both on alto and on tenor. Selmer's advertising from '67 says that it redesigned the VI in this year, and whether that's true or not, they certainly sound different. If you want a powerful VI tenor with a great overhaul that's what this is. It is straight, tight, and feels great under the fingers, but it has also had a lot of past dent work - there are lines from a dent ball on the back of the body tube in most places, as well as most of the bottom bow. I think this was just from someone kind of overdoing it with the dent ball rather than it actually having dents almost everywhere, but it is what it is. There's a minor crease that was removed from the bell flare, and a pickup plug in the side of the neck. Definitely a player's VI in actually great mechanical and playing condition with a great overhaul and a huge tone for a fraction of the cost of a new Selmer that doesn't sound as good. Comes in the original case in good condition.
