This is a beautiful original satin silver plated Selmer Super Sax SSS 'Cigar Cutter' alto saxophone from 1931 that is one of the most beautiful saxophones on the website right now in my opinion. I have a soft spot for early Selmer altos and tenors. I hope someone will adopt this one and get it making music again soon! There are no dents or dings and no resolders or past repairs. At some point the owner of this horn special ordered a satin silver matching Selmer Mark VI alto neck to match this horn, and I think at this point it makes sense to keep them together. If you do want to buy the horn without the neck or the neck without the horn, send me a message and we can discuss, but they look fantastic together, and the VI neck brings the Cigar Cutter tone slightly more into the modern saxophone sonic world while staying warm and spread and velvety. This alto plays a bit on the very old pads with rivet resonators, but it's really time for an overhaul on it. It will be an easy job though, as this is almost the cleanest, most perfect 95 year old Selmer that I have ever seen! With a gentle hand polish, it will look ridiculously nice and almost brand new. It comes in a protective hard case that will be great for shipping. If you love Selmer altos but you're wanting a more lush, velvety tone that doesn't sound like everything else, it would be hard to do better than this one. It's kind of a hipster, connoisseur's choice of vintage sax, and will look sick on stage as well.
