Here’s a very special baritone saxophone just in from a $3k full overhaul and just paired with a solid silver Gloger Handkraft 12M neck with his custom extended bore that lets you use modern mouthpieces and tune on a 12M. It’s pretty hard to beat! This has Pisoni Italian leather pads, and reusable slightly domed metal resonators that are my favorite for a Conn. This horn came in in great shape, tarnished and with old pads. The only interesting repair issue it needed was the Gloger neck. It comes with a ProTec contoured baritone case. I like that the serial number is a round 251000. The transitional 12M baritones like this are basically the same as the ‘final’ version 12M, and get you that warm, round, pleasant baritone tone that only Conns have (Muilligan, Carney etc). This works great with the GS Hollywood bari mouthpiece if you want an obvious winning pairing. I’m not making any money on this one at this price, because the neck was $1k and the overhaul was $3k, but I’m at least breaking even, and someone will get a fantastic vintage Conn bari for around the price of a run of the mill modern baritone. It’s the overhaul cost that gets you when buying vintage baritone saxophones. This one is done and ready to go, though Aaron Barnard in Cedar Rapids is doing the neck fit at the moment, so it would have to ship after that is done.
