This Conn 10M tenor was made right after the end of rolled tone holes so you can get it for less than you would normally expect to pay for a Conn 10M of this era. 1948 was a great year all around for saxophones, and the '48 10M's play a LOT like the 45-47 tenors but just cost less. This one has an overhaul done by Flying Squirrel Music in Raleigh NC (the go-to repair option in this era) that was done for the consignor not long ago. It plays great with easy response and a nice snappy feel. I don't see any signs of significant past repairs or damage. Just some small dings removed from the back of the bow. The neck is in excellent condition and hasn't had any past damage or pull down. If you're looking for a nice playing 10M with that HUGE dark, powerful, room-filling-but-extremely-pleasant tone, and you want it to have good pads and be ready to go out of the box, this one is hard to beat! I play a 10M myself, and I find the keywork comfortable, the intonation easy, and everything very satisfying to play on a daily basis. Great horn!
