Here’s a nice Conn 10M from 1948 that has good pads on an older but low miles overhaul done at Flying Squirrel Music in Raleigh NC. This is just after Conn stopped rolled tone holes (a couple of months after), and it plays basically the same as a late RTH Conn 10M. These immediately-post-war 10M’s are an excellent value in a vintage tenor saxophone, because it plays and feels great. The Conn tone is wide, powerful, and vibrates under the fingers like nothing else. These horns have excellent intonation as well, and the keywork, while not modern, is very fast and snappy under the fingers. You can play super fast on a 10M once you get used to it. Lookup Sal Nistico on YouTube if you want to see some of the best ever. The 10M is easily one of the best tenors ever made, and you can grab one like this with good pads for around the same as a new student Yamaha tenor, so it’s really quite a deal. Original case comes with it, though you'll probably want to put this in a different case for gigging.
