Yanagisawa A-880 Alto Saxophone Near Mint

The Yanagisawa (pronounced Yah-nuh-geh-sah-wah) A-880 is my overall favorite modern alto, and this is one of the nicest ones that I have seen. These horns are handmade in a small factory in Japan, and they are made by highly-skilled craftspeople who are producing the best-built saxophones in the world today. I played a Yanagisawa for many years before "going vintage," and I love to recommend these to people who want the best tone possible, and who also want the convenience of modern keywork and very easy intonation (and a high F# key).

This horn has only the lightest of wear. A couple of speckles on the neck and a few other keys is about it. There are no dents or past repairs at all.

This horn sings with a medum bright tone with a nice substantial core to it. It has rich, warm tone, and it sounds great for a wide range of styles of music, a lot like a Mark VI. The intonation is excellent, as is the build quality generally. It has a high F#. The ergonomics are modern and very comfortable. This horn will do it all, and it's quite a bit cheaper than most other altos of this calibre. I will be sorry to see it go, but I plan on keeping a nice 880 on the site when at-all possible, so check back if this one sells. They are very consistent and very good every time. It ships in the original case in excellent condition.
