This is a FANTASTIC Yamaha Custom professional YTS-875EX tenor saxophone. The YTS-875EX is my favorite modern Yamaha tenor because it just feels like an evolution above everything else in precision and intonation. Plus it has a big sound that can go in any direction depending on your choice of mouthpiece. Tyler is using the GS SLANT 7* with a Rigotti Gold 3 medium reed in the video below, and he's getting a nice classic mainstream jazz tone. With a GS RESO he would sound darker and more big band era if he wanted to, or with a brighter mouthpiece, like the GS Supersonic he would be able to project and play funk or rock if he wanted.
I sold this horn new to the original owner, and he played it lightly for a year before going vintage again (King Zephyr Special). It still looks almost new, as it was babied and owned by a retired pilot who took excellent care of it. It had the GetASax new horn setup as well, so it's playing, if anything, better than new. EX tenors are just so effortless to play and to sound good on. If you want a tenor that you can rely on to sound great, hold up well, and play in tune with other instruments, the EX excels in that category.
