This is probably the first time I’ve gotten in a nearly new Yamaha Custom saxophone that had also been completely overhauled when it was brand new! But that’s what this is! The previous owner wanted it to be as good as it could possibly be, so he got it overhauled by Brad Wherry in Washington. It has Pisoni Pro Italian leather pads, and it plays like a dream. You won’t find a better playing EX alto. It’s just effortless. Low Bb whispers out like any other note, with a beautiful, saturated pianissimo. If you want an alto that is perfect, and that is precision tuned to play at the top level, this is it. He traded it because he wanted to go vintage, but you really couldn’t find a better Yamaha 875-EXII. If you are a parent of a serious saxophonist, this is the alto you want for serious saxophone study. The intonation is excellent; tone is beautiful; keywork is comfortable; no maintenance is required– it’s better than new.
