It's wild to me that you can get an original lacquer, original pads Selmer Mark VI soprano for less than a new soprano of indifferent make and model, but you can! The Mark VI like this from late 70's is very similar to what Kenny G made famous over the past 30 years or so, and it can easily sound like that with a bright mouthpiece and some reverb added into the signal path. See our Youtube channel for details on adding reverb to your sound if you don't already know how. Anyway, this one has high F# which is a nice optional upgrade, and it has no damage or problems. It just has original pads that are now 48 years old, so it's time for a simple, straightforward overhaul with new pads, corks and felts at your local woodwind repair shop. The 70's Mark VI sopranos have the best intonation of the bunch, so I tend to think them an even better instrument than the much-more-valuable earlier serial Mark VI sopranos. If you want that bright, reedy, oboe-like soprano sound that only Selmer Mark VI sopranos can give you, that's what you get with this, or you can darken it down with a darker mouthpiece (happy to advise on options if you like). Great horn and a great value as well. Only one available!
