Here is a beautiful, very good condition 1961 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. It has original lacquer, American-engraving, and a five digit serial of 99837. The original neck has a likely mis-stamped number 98837 (only the second neck digit differs, so the person stamping reached for the 8 too soon and then realized the mistake). Past repairs I see are a resoldered low C keyguard, body/bow connection, and some evidence of a few minor dings being removed from the back of the body. There's a little ding in the bow guard currently. The original neck has not been pulled down or damaged and looks great. This alto still has most of its original, beautiful dark honey colored lacquer, and I think some of the pads are also still original. It comes in the grey zippered Selmer trey-pak case. The pads being from '61, it's time to disassemble, clean, and overhaul this alto, and it will be a very strong player with a dark, powerful, focused, tenor-like tone that is pretty much my favorite tone of all of the Mark VI altos. If you've been looking for a nice 5-digit alto with original lacquer that checks all the boxes and that isn't priced too high, then look no further!
