I actually love the Meliphone Special by Woodwind Co NY. This one is nicely refaced to a 7 tip measuring 0.082" and plays really nicely. The Meliphone chamber is different from most anything else on the market today. It resembles a Brilhart a bit in the shape of the chamber but is more parallel sides rather than bass-clarinet-shaped/ trapezoidal like an Ebolin/ Tonalin. The tone is pleasant, warm, not too dark, not too spread. It's a different take on lead alto tone than a Meyer, so lots of fun. The silver shank band is solid silver I think and polishes up nicely!
