This is a gorgeous original BURNISHED (thickly, hand-applied) gold plated Martin Handcraft soprano. Tonally, and as a total-package, these are serious contenders for the best soprano saxophones ever made. On top of that, this horn is freshly overhauled by Matt Stohrer, who is one of the best and most reputable experts in vintage saxophone restoration in the world. This horn has nearly 100% gold present. There is no damage at all, past or present, and no past repairs. It's super awesome in collectible condition.
These horns are highly coveted for their warm, round, full, dark, pleasant tone, and for their good intonation. This is keyed to high F, and plays easily with a warm tone even in the upper register. Build quality is also tops. They were originally sold with 50 year warranties! Can you think of anything made today that comes with a 59 year warranty?
It's very hard to find a near mint gold Handcraft. This one took me 3 years to find! Everyone who has one is keeping it, and you pretty much only find them when their owners pass them on to the care of a new generation. This is one of the best sopranos ever made, with the best overhaul it could possibly have. It plays gorgeously, with such easy response down to low Bb. The pad feel is also really even and nice, and there is all the attention to detail that you would expect from Matt Stohrer in the overhaul. It won't need any additional pad work for many years to come.
But wait! There's more! It also includes a brand new BAM Trekking soprano case, which is the best soprano case in the world, and costs $473 online. I have tried all the modern soprano cases, and this one is by far the best. I'm including it because the horn deserves it. So basically, you're getting the burnished gold Martin soprano for $2300, the Matt Stohrer overhaul for $1300, and the case for $400. If you want it without the BAM case, we can knock that off the price, if you want.
This is a turn key purchase for a beautiful, rare, great-sounding vintage soprano saxophone. Get it now - there's only one available!
