Here's the Grover Washington Jr era Keilwerth also in his desired black nickel plate finish. These are really hard to find. I think this is the first I have sold in the history of GetASax, along with about 3 tenors and a couple of altos. I feel like if you can swing the little bit of extra money for black nickel, you get that back in rarity, resale value, and beauty. The nickel is also a very tough metal and a robust and long-lasting external finish for a saxophone. Does it sound different because of the finish? No idea, but a couple of my favorite Keilwerths ever have been this finish. This soprano has no dents or dings and has good pads and plays well with a dark, fat, projecting tone. With a bright mouthpiece, it really shines in rock/R&B settings, where it stays fat sounding even if you need to scream on it. Tyler is using a middle of the road mouthpiece for a classic jazz tone. Hard to beat!
