Absolutely wonderful player with a fresh full overhaul through GetASax. This is a Conn late transitional 10M tenor that has a big, wide, powerful, dark tone. It has excellent intonation, and plays a little wider and wilder than the 10M (which also starts basically at this same serial number. The neck is pretty much a 10M neck at this point, but the spatula keys are still late NWII style. These are some of my favorite sounding tenors of all time. Emanuele Cisi in Italy plays one much like this and gets one of the nicest tenor tones on the planet. This one is setup like his, and it is just a joy to play. The late transitional tenors sometimes look like this when relacquered and also when ‘first lacquered’ – ie engraved first, then lacquered just before sale. I’m pricing this like a relacquer, but it may well be original. It gets my coveted ‘exceptionally fine player’ designation. Only one available!
