You can get a vintage American pro tenor for $750 that has a great tone and easy intonation, and then put some pads in it and be into a nice saxophone for not much money! The Buescher 400 is very similar to the Top Hat and Cane tenor, but it costs like 80% less money in similar condition. It's one of the best options in the 'good but cheap' category among all tenor saxophones.
