Description
This is an unlacquered Yanagisawa B6 baritone with range to low A and a recent overhaul. The overhaul was done by Peter Lamb of Flying Squirrel Music in Raleigh, and the horn plays great. It’s nice and responsive and plays the low register easily. Lots of fun to honk on, and the tone is also warm and round, like you expect from a pro baritone made by Yanagisawa.
Yanagisawa consistently puts out saxophones with the highest build quality in the industry. Yanagisawa saxophones are reliable and well-made and easy to play, own, and maintain. As far as repair history goes, this horn has a replacement low Eb guard, and some other key guards have been resoldered (see many photos below). I call this horn ‘big red’ to myself:-) It was original lacquer, but was stripped when it was overhauled. The bare brass develops a patina over time. If you want the red tint to go away, you can polish it gently and it will disappear.
