Yamaha YTS-62S Purple Logo Era Tenor Excellent Condition 1703

$ 4,750

Here is a rare and desirable original silver plated Yamaha YTS-62S Purple Logo (era) tenor saxophone. I say ‘era’ because the silver ones didn’t have the purple silk screened logo, but this is from the early 80’s and among the first silver 62S’s that would have been made, with a only a 4-digit serial of 1703. These are wonderful saxophones, and this one has a recent overhaul and is in top playing condition. You’d have trouble finding a nicer sounding horn for the money. The purple logo 62 has a warm, complex, pleasant tone that was meant to evoke a Selmer Mark VI, but with improved intonation and ergonomics. Yamaha pulled it off, which is why Yamaha saxophones from this era are still extremely popular today. This one has no dents or dings and nothing resoldered. There was a very slight bell flare crease when I got it, which is now gone. It comes in the original case in good condition as well. The silver plated ones of these are like 100x as rare as the lacquered examples, and people always say they play especially well. I don’t know, because I think all the nicely overhauled purple logo tenors play really well, but it certainly has the rarity factor on top of also being an excellent tenor in its own right.
