The Yamaha 62 is still the best single piece soprano that has been made. It came in two versions, the straight one (this one) and the one that is slightly curved (see the 62R in the museum section). Both horns have such a nice, rich tone that they are really hard to beat. Some vintage horns, like the Conn New Wonder II, Buescher True Tone, or the Martin Handcraft can compete with the 62 in the tone department, but all of these have very flexible intonation and vintage ergonomics. So if you are looking for the soprano that has it all, it is the 62. This particular horn is in mint condition. The lacquer all there, and there are no dents, dings or past repairs.
This horn has just had ALL NEW PADS by Matt Stohrer, and it plays GREAT! It plays effortlessly top to bottom – probably the best playing 62 that I’ve seen. It feels light in your hands, and it is ergonomically excellent all-around. Intonation is great as well, like all Yamaha saxophones. It ships in the original case, which is in mint condition as well. This should be a great horn that makes someone very happy!
