This is a clean, store display model Lucerne stencil SML tenor saxophone. It is a Gold Medal model with straight tone holes rather than rolled (which is actually better for you because your repair guy will be much better at working on the horn down the road). It hung on the wall of a distributor’s display room for something like 30 years, apparently never having been played for any length of time. The lacquer had gotten mottled looking from sitting out, so I just had this horn fully overhauled, and it is now bare brass, no lacquer, and it looks gorgeous. The brass will of course get darker and patina as you play this horn. It plays GREAT with a huge voice that is dark, full, and powerful, while remaining focused and centered, like a typical French-made saxophone (think Selmer but fatter and darker). The overhaul was done very well, with reusable screw in brass resonators that are idea for this horn. Whoever gets this is going to be very pleased!
