This is one of the most beautiful SML tenors made, with my favorite engraving pattern (including inside the bell) and my favorite deep gold lacquer color. This horn has a wonderful overhaul on it. I wish I knew who had done this work because it roasts. If you want to have a dark, dense, powerful tone that is Selmer-like but has the big tone of a Conn, this is for you. It’s a lyrical horn too. I’m tempted ot chuck my personal (perma)gold SML and keep this one instead. There’s a bit of spot lacquering on the LH pinky keys, and the low C keyguard popped off and was carefully resoldered without burning any lacquer. It’s about as clean an example of a Gold Medal as you will ever see. This has all the famous features that SML touted, and is a world-class tenor to hang with the best of them. It ships in a new ProTec XL contoured case for optimal protection.
