This is an amazing original silver plate Selmer Super (Balanced) Action Tenor saxophone from 1949 that is in excellent condition with a recent overhaul and plays GREAT! You’d be hard-pressed to find a better SBA for a better price anywhere right now. This horn had a very nice full overhaul just a couple of years ago, and it was put away by a collector in the meantime, so the overhaul is nearly fresh. I just got it completely checked over cleaned up, tuned up and ready to go, so it is playing to its full potential! That’s something that is pretty rare in a vintage Selmer. The condition is beautiful, as you can see, with almost all of the original silver plate intact. This is similar to the SBA’s played Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, and Branford Marsalis, and it’s slightly earlier than Coltrane’s SBA but has the same double bell key guards etc. I’m selling this in a brand new BAM Cabine tenor case in blackj, which really sets off the look of the horn, and represents about a $500+ added value included in the price. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer, cleaner, better playing example of an SBA anywhere near this price. It will also go up in value while you own it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went up quite a bit, because this is definitely one of the nicer examples of this type of SBA tenor in existence.
