This is a gorgeous early Selmer Super Action 80 Series II Alto. The Series II has a better tone in general than the Series III and also better intonation in many cases. The earlier Series II’s are the most desirable, and this one is a 400k serial so it’s in the prime range. It is also in near mint condition. Whoever gets this horn is going to love it. Why pay 66% more than this for a new Selmer alto when you can get a used one in like new condition, and it will probably play better anyway?!

This is a gorgeous early Selmer Super Action 80 Series II Alto. The Series II has a better tone in general than the Series III and also better intonation in many cases. The earlier Series II’s are the most desirable, and this one is a 400k serial so it’s in the prime range. It is also in near mint condition. It has been played very little, and the pads look almost new. The only wear is some minor lacquer wear at the bow-bell joint, which is very common on Selmers and nothing to worry about. Besides that, the horn could pass for new. It comes with the original black Selmer Vanguard hard case, which is in near mint/mint condition and which is very protective. Whoever gets this horn is going to love it. Why pay 66% more than this for a new Selmer alto when you can get a used one in like new condition, and it will probably play better anyway?!
