Description
Made famous by John Coltrane, who played this mouthpiece on his classic soprano recordings like In a Sentimental Mood, and Favorite Things, the vintage Selmer Scroll Shank (Soloist) Soprano saxophone mouthpieces remain popular today. This is a beautiful example of a Scroll Shank D with a silver plate and its original facing. It also includes the original ligature and cap. It plays easily and has that reedy, focused, projecting, medium bright tone that you think of with those classic recordings. The chamber is round and not very large, much like the hard rubber version of the Soloist soprano pieces. The metal seems to give you just a bit more brightness. The tip on this one measures a comfortable .051″ making it easy to play with a medium reed strength.
