Description
This piece has a smallish tip opening and a square chamber, giving it a narrow dynamic range and a stuffy, nasal tone. Some band directors require these mouthpieces, as do many saxophone teachers, so I always have tons of them around here. But if I had my way, they would all be incinerated. I mean this specifically about the tenor pieces – the altos and sopranos are nice for beginner players. If you are required to buy this piece by some ill-informed authority figure, then please do the following two things. First, buy a used one, rather than paying the ridiculously high new price that Selmer charges, and second, let me know, and I will help you to find another piece that will actually give your otherwise-nice-sounding tenor the kind of tone that it deserves to have. The only mouthpiece this is better than is the even smaller tip C* S80.
