    This is a matte finish Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone. These horns come from the factory needing a thorough setup, so when this horn came in, I had to get almost all of the sprung-open pads replaced (and a few others I believe). Good news is that Matt Stohrer did that work, and it now plays and feels better than a new one. His pad work is really precise and snappy, feels great under the fingers, and lasts for a long time. If you’re looking for a good used Ref 54, this is an excellent option.

      This is a matte finish Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone. These horns come from the factory needing a thorough setup, so when this horn came in, I had to get almost all of the sprung-open pads replaced (and a few others I believe). Good news is that Matt Stohrer did that work, and it now plays and feels better than a new one. His pad work is really precise and snappy, feels great under the fingers, and lasts for a long time.

      The matte finish shows some clouding (especially around the octave key area) and some light wear near the strap hook. Lacquer is about 95-98%. The horn is structurally totally clean, and it ships in the original Selmer-BAM contoured case, which has some scuffs but is in good condition. If you’re looking for a good used Ref 54, this is an excellent option.
