This was a one-owner Selmer Mark VI tenor bought new in 1958. It was professionally owned and very well cared-for. There are no dents or dings or past repairs at all, and the original neck is perfectly round and has the matching serial number. The lacquer is gorgeous on the front of this horn – looks really beautiful. There is some honest play wear on the back of the body tube. This horn has great pads that will not need to be replaced for a long time. It is set up and ready to go as is.
This horn has that sound that people look for in an 80xxx Mark VI tenor. (I know, it’s a 79,9xx, but I play an 81xxx, and they are pretty darn similar.) It has a dark, focused core with lots of resonance, and a punchy edge to the sound that creates a great blend. These are the best of the Mark VI’s in my experience. Get this one while it’s still available!
