Here’s a nearly pristine 5-Digit serial Selmer Mark VI tenor. It has no actual lacquer wear on any of the touch points. There are some light scratches by the strap hook and below, and that’s it for cosmetics. It’s about as close to new condition as you ever see on an early VI tenor. Structurally it is perfect with no dents, no dings, no past repairs of any kind. The neck, bow, bell flare etc are all perfect. It has original pads and original domed metal resonators intact. Original Chesterfield case is in nearly new condition, and it even includes the Selmer warranty card and hang tags.
As you would expect, a super nice VI tenor like this also plays very well on its original factory setup. Tonally, it is dark, focused, and complex, with lots of power when pushed. The tone of the VI is so nice because it is flexible and great all-around. That is why you see people playing every style and genre of music on these horns – they do it all better than anything else. This horn works well with lots of different mouthpieces as well, and it also tunes well.
It also includes a new BAM Cabine tenor case for safe shipping. That’s the best case for the VI that I have seen. I’ve been especially trying to buy up a few super-clean VI’s, but they are hard to find in truly clean condition and hard to keep when they come in. This beautiful horn is also great investment, so if you have the cash, and you love saxophones, it’s a very good purchase. Get it while you can! I should also say that of the original pads VI tenors I have had in the last year, this one is the best player. It’s the kind of horn you start to play and with immediate recognition, think – YES – THIS is what a good tenor saxophone should sound like.
