Description
Price just reduced! This is one of those truly great 5-digit serial Mark VI tenors. It is tenors like this one that made the Mark VI the standard by which other saxophones are judged. This is beautiful original lacquer from 1955, and the original neck, bell, and bow are undamaged and look beautiful. The neck has the matching serial number. The only past repairs are a dent removed near the top of the body tube, and a small crease removed from the bell flare. Both repairs were done very well, and it is hard to tell now.
This horn plays super easily and has a sound that contains depths of expression. (I’m waxing eloquent here, but indulge me a moment.) Some horns feel like they just have “more.” This one does – the tone is rich and multi-faceted, and it has that classic, centered, medium dark Blue Note era Selmer tone. Of course you can take it in unlimited directions. But I played it with an Otto Link Reso Chamber tenor piece, and it is just effortlessly beautiful.
The fresh, high-end overhaul was done really well. The pads are sealed so that they will be waterproof and last forever. The resonators are high quality domed metal, which is the best choice for this vintage of VI.
If you have been looking for a superb Selmer Mark VI, this would be an excellent choice. If you compare this to similar horns, the price is hard to beat for what you get. Comes in your choice of BAM Cabine tenor case for safe shipping anywhere in the world.
