Selmer Mark VI Tenor 1968 Relacquer Old Pads Great Deal! 150544

$ 3,900

Great deal on a desirable 150k serial Selmer Mark VI Tenor saxophone. This horn has been relacquered, and it’s time for an overhaul on it, but the price is the same as a used Yamaha for a Mark VI, so hopefully someone will grab this and fix it up and get playing. I don’t see any serious issues – some minor past dent work back of the bow area, and the octave key was a little bent when I got it, and is now back in shape. This serial of VI tenor typically has a medium tone between bright and dark, and plays with lots of power and warmth. Intonation is typically very good, and the altissimo is easy. These are not as bright as the 140k tenors, nor are they as brash as the 1970’s VI tenors. This is a do-it-all instrument that has a lot of complexity to the tone, is very flexible, not mouthpiece picky, and will be a great deal once you overhaul it. It comes in the original Selmer hard case in ok condition. At this price, the horn may not last long, because you rarely see such an early serial number available under $4k in nice refinished condition like this.
