This is a beautiful original lacquer Selmer Mark VI tenor in excellent condition. These horns in the 130k range play really well, and have a dark, complex, focused tone similar to the early 80k VI tenors. Sonny Rollins plays a 139xxx made at the same time as this one. It has nearly all of its original lacquer intact, and it has beautiful, original silver plated keys. This horn is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. A few very small dings were removed from the back of the body tube, and there are some scratches on the bell from a stand. That’s really about it. The original neck is perfect and has never been damaged. The bow and bell flare both look fantastic. The original case is nice too.
This is an exceptionally fine player. It has a big, fat, medium dark tone. Very responsive and easy to play. The overhaul on it is super, with $120 a set domed metal resonators, and a great feel under the fingers. There’s only one available. Get it now!
