The later serial Mark VI altos deserve to have as good a reputation as the 5-digit altos have. That is somewhat controversial, but it is also pretty obvious to anyone who has played as many different VI altos as I have. All the serious sellers will say the same. VI tenors seem to be very strong already in the early models, while altos are hit or miss. The early ones can be stuffy or too resistant with spotty intonation and an uneven lower register. But by the time they get to the later serials, all of these problems are solved: great response, open, free-blowing feel, good intonation, and even tone across the instrument.
This horn is SN 201xxx and it plays great. It has older pads that are still sealing well, so you can get a good idea for the tone. It has been well cared-for and has had only one dent removed, on the back of the body tube.
