Description
On hold 5/4/20 for possible buyer. One of the finest Mark VI altos I have had in the shop, ever. It’s warmer than the 140xxx VI’s, but has the same balanced, all-around beauty and most of the projection. This alto still has its original factory pads and plays plenty well enough to know that it is a fantastic saxophone. This is one of those horns that you just keep and never sell, and whoever gets it is going to be one happy person! With an overhaul down the roadm it will easily play as well as my personal VI alto, which is saying a lot. The 150k VI altos are great because they are less expensive than the 140k’s but they play just as well, with the early 150k being virtually indistinguishable from a good 140k, and the later 15x range being a bit warmer and more balanced, and less crisp and bright. This horn response really well, tunes great, and takes air well. It feels like a new horn under the fingers, which is not surprising given the top notch original factory setup it still has. It had a super tiny, 2mm ding removed under one post foot at some point, and that’s literally the only evidence of any repair that I can find, besides the new neck cork and octave key pads. It’s incredibly clean and original.
