Don’t miss this one! (And take note that I don’t say that about every saxophone!) This is one of the best playing Mark VI altos that I have played. It came on trade from one of the foremost players and collectors in the USA today, and it was his main alto for over a decade, chosen out literally scores of the best VI altos around. It has a fresh, well-done ($950) overhaul by Jared Bufe, whose high-end work is well known in the Chicago area for being top-quality. It won’t need any pad work for a very long time. This horn is in excellent physical condition: the neck, body tube, bow, and bell flare are all very clean and undamaged. The low C and Eb keyguards have been resoldered, and there is lacquer wear (obviously) because the horn has been loved and played. But because it was owned by a player who is also a meticulous collector, it is still just as tight and clean as it would be if the lacquer were prettier. Lacquer wear is completely unrelated to quality of sound in this case. Whoever buys this horn is going to be really happy, because that person will own one of the best alto saxes available anywhere!
