Here is a chance to get a really world-class Mark VI alto with a fresh overhaul by Matt Stohrer. This horn is also beautiful, and in the prime, Sanborn alto serial range. It has the vertical Mark VI stamp below the D palm key that you only find on the early 14x,xxx Selmers, and that make the horn more collectible. Originally unengraved, I had it American engraved with the correct pattern for the period to add beauty to the horn.
It is original lacquer, which is almost all present, and there is no past damage, no resolders, no dents or dings. It also comes in a Hiscox alto case, which is a nice plus. The tone is medium between bright and dark, with a good amount of body to the core of the tone. These 140k+ VI horns have excellent intonation even playing softly down into the bell keys, so they work well for classical playing as well as jazz. They are also some of the most collectible of vintage Selmers, with good potential to continue to go up in value over time. Matt Stohrer’s pad work on this horn is the best. You will simply not find a better setup Mark VI alto anywhere. Whoever gets this horn is going to be really happy with it!
