Description
Beautiful original lacquer 1960 Selmer Mark VI Alto saxophone with recent high-end overhaul! This sax has it all. Beautiful original lacquer, great tone, super clean condition. The neck has the matching serial number to the body. Neck is perfect, bell flare is perfect, body tube is perfect; bottom bow had one small dent removed, where there is a little lacquer missing. That’s about as clean as you ever see a Selmer Mark VI alto.
This horn has a beautiful tone. It is medium-dark, centered, and powerful. I think of the 90k-110k VI altos as the most “tenor-like” of the Mark VI’s. They have a gutsy, projecting sound that is really warm especially in the low and mid registers.
The overhaul on this horn was done by Kessler in NV, and it feels very good. Nice and snappy. It’s easy to play a saturated pianissimo low Bb on this sax, just like it should be on any saxophone with a proper overhaul. The resonators are domed metal, which is what I also like on this serial of VI. The original case is in great shape too.
If you have been looking for a very nice VI alto that you can enjoy, play, and love while being sure that it will go up in value, then this is it.
