Description
This is a gorgeous American-assembled and engraved Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. It has nearly all of its original lacquer, and it has good pads and plays very well. It has no resolders and no past damage to the neck, bell, or body tube. The neck is original, beautiful and has not been pulled down or repaired. This is as nice of an example of a Mark VI alto as you will ever see. It includes the original case in great shape and the warranty card from Selmer!
The American-assembled VI altos in the 160k range are very good players. I know several top professional players who prefer altos in just this range. The tone is sweet, medium between bright and dark, flexible, and complex just like people want from a good Mark VI. The intonation is very good – better than most Mark VI altos, both in the palm keys and in the bell keys. This is a big plus if you plan to do classical work on a VI and get the rich tone, but you need the good intonation as well. If you have been looking for a realy good VI alto for a while, look no further. This is it. It’s beautiful, solid, plays well, has no issues, and will definitely go up in value over time.
I would strongly encourage you to also add a modern BAM or Hiscox case for safer shipping, I’d be happy to work with you on a package deal at a great price. Grab this one before it’s gone. It is even nicer in person than it looks in the photos.
