This is an interesting horn because, besides the fact that it is in like new condition, it is also one of the very first medium bow altos made. It is a 136k serial, which is as early as you see the true medium bow (which has the best intonation for low register, especially with a classical setup). There were actually long bow horns made after this batch, believe it or not.
In any case, it’s a huge playing horn as well – rich, medium between bright and dark and just surprisingly lots of fun. It was so pristine that the neck cork had not even been compressed. Basically it was never played – and it turned out to be an excellent player.
