This is a nearly unplayed (plastic is still in the case) P Mauriat PMB-302 low Bb baritone saxophone with a nice patina from the barely handled unlacquered finish. This is one of the only low Bb baritone saxophones available today, and it plays great. It feels really nice to play a low Bb bari because it’s a lot lighter than the Low A and feels more like a tenor if you’ve got it on a neck strap. The horn plays great, with a warm, medium dark tone and plenty of complexity. James Carter famously plays P Mauriat baritones with his Lawton metal mouthpiece and gets a fantastic tone. You can make it way more dark and blending with a darker piece, or blend into a concert band with a Selmer S80 or the upcoming GS Hollywood for classic jazz or big band or pit orchestra baritone tone. It’s unusual to find one of these in this kind of condition. You can buy used and save some money too on a basically new horn.
