This was a big restoration project that we did on this beautiful King Zephyr Special from 1939. It had the lacquer stripped, engraving redone, bead blasted to give it the satin finish, fully silver plated, and then completely overhauled. That was in 2021, and it has been played lightly since that time. The restoration is most of the price. That gets you a GREAT playing example of one of the most beautiful tenor saxophones ever made. The Zephyr Special is just so fun to play. It has power and warmth and a big wide, room-filling tone that reminds me of a vintage Conn, but with more projection, or a Selmer Balanced Action but with a more beautiful upper register. It’s also one of the most deluxe saxophones ever made, with engraved key cups, solid silver double-socket neck, three ring strap hook, and full pearls on all the key touches.
It comes in a new BAM case to keep it safe in shipping and make it easy to take on gigs. Only one available!
