This is a near mint original condition King SilverSonic tenor saxophone. It’s a Cleveland SilverSonic with the desirable ‘alligator’ style case that is also in near mint condition. The neck and bell are of course solid sterling silver on this horn. To many players, this sort of King is the pinnacle of beauty when it comes to vintage saxophones. When you pair it with the gold ‘wash’ in the bell, it really does turn heads, and it’s even more stunningly beautiful in person. It’s kind of wild that you can buy a Cleveland Silversonic that is almost a time capsule find for not that much more than a new (but very plain and rather boring) Yamaha 82Z or something. It’s like finding a 60’s Corvette in pristine condition in a dusty barn, and buying it for the price of a Toyota Camry. Anyway, there isn’t a vintage saxophone that plays louder or cuts through a band better than these late Cleveland SilverSonics, and there’s also hardly any saxophone that is more satisfying to own while still being relatively affordable.
