Players love the Ishimori New Vintage tenor saxophones because of they just play great, and they are well built and well setup for heavy use. Of the younger players in this area who have really taken off, almost all of them have bought an Ishimori like this from GetASax! They are setup with lower ‘action’ than most new horns, which means it’s easier to get around quickly on them, and they are also setup to be comfortable for smaller as well as larger hands. Some modern horns are really only comfortable if you have large hands, but the Ishimori works great for middle schoolers on up to pro adults. The tone is warm and rich – the idea is to harken back to the Selmer Super Balanced Action of the early 1950’s, and the New Vintage does that better than any other modern tenor. Plus it gets a very thorough pro setup/overhaul by Ishimori when it’s sold new, so it comes with the best overhaul Japan can offer. These are actually made at the best factory in Taiwan (which sells horns for way higher prices than any other factory in Taiwan, and which makes better horns than any other Taiwanese factory), but then Ishimori in Japan works its magic, and these horns come problem-free and setup to be easy to own and play effortlessly for many years. Even ones I’ve bought used that had been played heavily for 7 years were still sealing perfectly and very nice to play.
Anyway, this is a used antique finish (patina over bare brass) Ishimori New Vintage tenor without high F# for those of you who really prefer tenors without high F# – people want this because it feels more like a vintage Selmer to play. It plays nicely, looks good, and is a great value. If you want a fun, comfortable, nice looking, high quality modern tenor that has a warm, interesting tone, and that is also pretty affordable, then the New Vintage might be the horn for you!
