Description
This is a super-rare original lacquer Couf Superba I Low A Baritone saxophone with range from low A to high F#. It has some of the usual past repairs that you expect on baris – a few resoldered key cage legs, some dent work on the bow and the back of the body tube, and some small dents removed from the upper bow. It is in good structural condition now, and the body is straight. The neck looks good as well. It plays Great with a fresh, full overhaul done by Steve Collins of Collins Hornworks. Steve is a pro bari player himself, as well as an outstanding tech, so you get a horn that really plays well from the hands of a bari-playing tech. The overhaul was $1000, and well worth it. The horn is now mechanically better than new, and it should be in top playing condition now for many years to come.
These Superba 1 Baritones have a big, rich, fat tone that stays full across the whole range of the instrument. This horn has a huge sound, and it can be pushed as much as you want. The intonation is good, and the ergonomics are quite good, especially for a vintage horn. It comes with a new Protec Contoured bari case, which works great for shipping and for gigging, or we can talk about upgrading to a new BAM Hightech case, if the big bell will fit (I need to check!) I can ship this horn Express Mail to Europe or Japan for only $200!
