Conn Transitional NWII 10M Tenor Fresh Overhaul Great Deal! 256812

This is a great deal on one of those special ‘transitional’ Conn tenor saxophones that have a huge following. They combine the huge sound of a New Wonder II with some of the ergonomic and tuning improvements of a 10M, and they are also pretty hard to find in good shape. This one is NICE. It’s relacquered, but it looks like it was done just to make the horn look great again, and not to deal with underlying mechanical problems. That’s the kind of relacquer you want. Doesn’t do much of anything to the sound in my experience. The basic condition of the horn is more important than the new coat of paint, and this one is beautiful! It also has a fresh overhaul done by Eric Wistreich at Meridian Winds in Michigan, which is a speciality woodwind shop with decades of experience.

The tone is big, warm, medium dark, and pretty spread. Nothing plays like a Conn – it’s hard to put in words the actual experience of playing one – the vibration of the horn under your fingers as the body tube comes alive – the wideness of the sound – the effortless way that you get a velvety smooth tone that fills a room. That’s why folks keep coming back to these. Once you play one, you’re hooked. I play a 10M with the GS SLANT 7* on tenor, and I sound a lot better than I deserve to. It’s a really excellent combination.

So here, for a bargain price, you get one of the best Conns ever, plus a fresh overhaul, and the horn is also beautiful because of the carefully done refinish. That’s really pretty good.
