This is a mint original Conn New Wonder II soprano SN 154xxx. It has no past repairs, no dents, no dings, nothing. It’s still in its original bare brass finish as they came from the factory at this time. It still has all of its white kid leather pads from the factory as well. The nailfile G# key is super-crisp and shows how little this horn has been played. It needs a repad, obviously, in order to be playable at all. But the body is straight and the horn is so pristine that it promises to be an easy and rewarding restoration. If you are looking for a high-quality vintage soprano at a reasonable price that you can restore, this could be a very good option.
People buy these 80-90 year-old sopranos for one reason above all: they have the warmest, fattest sound that you can get on soprano while also having relatively good intonation. The intonation is both good and also fairly flexible, so if a particular note isn’t quite there, you can easily make the necessary adjustment. Ergonomics are decidedly not modern, but if you love the tone, then the keywork becomes easy and second-nature in a few weeks of playing. Just as a side note, this horn works best with a large, round-chambered mouthpiece.
