This is a beautiful original gold-plated 184xxx Conn New Wonder II soprano (‘Chu Berry’) with almost all of its original thick gold plate intact. There are some marks on the inside of the bell flare from a crease being removed, but that’s it for past repairs. This horn has just received full overhaul done by Matt Stohrer, who is one of the best techs in the country, and it plays its best with a rich, warm, complex tone that is far bigger and warmer than modern sopranos. There’s a lot of color on your pallet with this horn. Intonation is more flexible than on a modern soprano, so you need to have an ear in order to control the pitch. Intonation is generally good, so it’s pretty easy to get used to. I cannot emphasize enough that this horn will blow you away as a player. This is the horn that I play when I want to play soprano, so I will miss it when it’s sold. This horn ships in the original case, which is also in nice condition.
