Description
Well, here is a horn that is super-incredibly-vanishingly rare. It’s a transitional Conn 8M C Melody. For those of us who care about the C Melody saxophone, this gets our blood pumping. There are only a handful of these horns out there, in all likelihood, and this one has to be one of the nicest, because it’s in such great condition including the original case. It got a recent overhaul, and it looks very good! Besides being collectible, the later C Melody saxophones are also the best players. This is a burning player with a big sound and nothing stuffy or muted about it. It plays like a good Conn should: Big, bold, warm, spread, resonant. What a saxophone!
I only know of two later C Melodies than this one, so if you are into having an amazing, world-class collection, then you might want to grab this horn before it’s gone. I have an identical, slightly earlier, 243xxx in my personal collection, and I don’t think I will ever sell it. With a Morgan C Melody mouthpiece, it’s just a beast. And for saxophone players, it’s so cool to meet a new member of the saxophone family that is so fun to play, AND in concert pitch!
