This is an original lacquer Conn 6M VIII alto saxophone with about 90% original lacquer. It is in very good physical condition, with the only past repair being a resoldered low Eb keycage (which is very minor).
The 6M VIII is the most desirable version of the 6M, and the early ones like this tend to have the best reputations. The sound is like nothing else – full, warm, lyrical, fairly focused, with a delicate core. The keywork is super-fast, intonation is very good. These are really world-class altos that deserve the hype that they get. This horn is currently getting a top quality overhaul done by Bill Cole of Cole’s Woodwinds. This is included in the price. Shipping may take some time while the overhaul gets done.
