This is a pristine, early silver Conn 6M alto saxophone. It has the rare “Metro” stamp on the body, which is probably something like the VIII stamp that came later to distinguish the best horns. The Conn 6M is probably the alto with the fastest keywork of anything made so far. The ergonomics are great, and you get faster as you get more and more used to them. The tone is huge. You can blow down walls if you want, or play softly and sweetly like a 30’s big band alto player. These horns have great intonation too, so you can even use them for classical if your teacher is open-minded!

This is a pristine, early silver Conn 6M alto saxophone. It has the rare “Metro” stamp on the body, which is probably something like the VIII stamp that came later to distinguish the best horns. This horn came from the original owner and it is in truly excellent condition with virtually all of the original silver plate intact, and a dark gold wash remaining on the bell. There are no dents, no dings, no past repairs at all. The neck is perfect, as is the bell and bottom bow. This horn has been gently polished, and it is ready for a repad. The original pads have been removed, so the horn is being sold as-is, needing pads. It is waiting in line for a repad along with lots of other horns, so here is your chance to get it more quickly and have the tech of your choice do the work.

Just get a small-tip opening, round chamber mouthpiece, and you’re set. But for jazz, they work great with a number of options. You can do the Brilhart streamline Tonalin like Charlie Parker, or use a Meyer– either way, you’ll sound great.

There are not that many really nice 6M’s out there, and this is definitely one of them, so get it while it’s available!
