Description
The Buescher True Tone soprano saxophone is among the best vintage sopranos ever made. This is the rare and desirable “Series IV” version of the True Tone. It’s the last version they made, and it has the roller G#. These typically are the easiest to play of the True Tones, though none of them are bad. I like the Series III just as well, as a side note. Anyway, this soprano plays beautifully with a big, warm, full tone all the way up into the palm keys. It doesn’t thin out like most modern sopranos do. The intonation is very good — I mean, it’s called the ‘True Tone’ for a reason, but still. This horn has been played a lot. It just got all new pads, corks, felts, most springs replaced etc, by the look of it, before I got it. The overhaul feels very good. This soprano does not have its snaps and spuds anymore (the original Buescher pad system), but it plays better on these pads anyhow. If you’re looking for the best possible vintage soprano for under $1500 with good pads, then this is very hard to beat in that category.
It comes in a nice ProTec zippered soprano case also! Only one available. These do not come up for sale very often, and they are usually much more expensive if you actually get one and get it overhauled properly.
